Experiencia de mujeres con cáncer de mama en torno al Apoyo familiar

Abstract

Breast cancer is the principal cause of death among mexican women. Cancer has social and familiar consequences which should be cancer has social and familiar consequences which should be addressed. Families facing a chronic illness; which is associated to suffering and death; can unsuccessfully struggle within a situation of health – altering crisis. At present time homes have become health – attention environments where both; the professional and the domestic health approaches have marged. Exploring the experiences of women going through this illness is an important reference in order to dimension the problem and to develop specific strategies towards it´s health care solutions; methodology: Interpretative qualitive research design. Breast hospitals files were reviewed and 14 cases were identified. The semistructured interview included 15 focal – group approach questions; in two focal – groups specific orientation on trearment and side efects was offered. Interviews were recorded and written down and general subjects were identified; findings: two categories regarding family support were acknowledged: support type (economic; emotional; moral; and religious); and participating characteres. Women interviewed identified both the positive and negative impacts.
