Nursing interventions framed into Dorothea Orem’s theory on a patient suffering from Guillain Barre’s s yndrome type AMAN
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study case aims to highlight the importance of high specialty nursing care in Guillain Barre’s Syndrome, which although has a low incidence, provokes a long and progressive health deterioration. A recovery is possible, though, if proper specialized care is provided to the patient and his family, both at the hospital and home settings.
Results obtained were satisfactory, both in the physiological and the emotional aspects. The rehabilitation process was successful considering the fact that the patient, a year an 2 months from having suffered the syndrome, has been able to return to his daily activities without sequels.
With proper care, education and information, hospital re-admission risks, which are common place in patients suffering from this syndrome, can be reduced.
